It's about time.
Miomi is a groundbreaking new venture that is creating a giant resource of the world's memories. Think of it as 'user-generated history': the story of man, by man, for man (and woman!).
Miomi is a giant timeline where real people can 'make' history. It gives users the tools to write their (or someone else's) life story online with photos, videos and blogs that will preserve their place in history.
Miomi also licenses historical, encyclopaedic and news content to present a historical context for every moment. All of this content is then displayed along the Miomi timeline stretching from the dawn of time to the distant future, generating the true history of mankind - from users' most intimate moments to major events of global importance.
According to Microsoft, Miomi has the potential to be Britain's answer to YouTube - in fact Miomi was named as one of the UK's top ten Web 2.0 start-ups, months before it has even launched!
Founded by three German graduate students, Miomi attracted investment from Brightstation Ventures when it won the 'Idea Idol' competition run by Oxford University in February 2007. Brightstation Ventures vied with Microsoft and 3i to invest in the concept but was the ideal fit thanks to the breadth and depth of knowledge in their investment team as well as their enthusiasm for the venture.
Miomi wants to hand history back to the people who make it. It will be a repository for the world's memories, a memory bank for mankind, and the ultimate time-based resource. Whatever you want to find out about time - Miomi should be the first port of call.
Miomi is free to users but makes money through advertising and syndication partnerships.
